Everyone says this new weight loss supplement works but what do the Raspberry Ketone clinical studies say? Let’s take a look.
In this clinical trial we will refer to Raspberry ketone as (RK).
The RK of red raspberries is a natural plant compound and gives the berry it’s smell. In this clinical study male mice were administered RK to prevent high-fat diet-induced elevations in body weight, which it did very well but also to increase lipolysis in white adipocytes (fat cells).
To explain further the possible mechanism for the reduction of fat cells (antiobesity) of RK, its effects on the expression and the secretion of adiponectin, lipolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in 3T3-L1 were investigated in detail.
How the Raspberry Ketone Clinical Studies Work
Using a treatment of 10 µM RK there was an increase in lipolysis significantly in differentiated 3T3-L1 cells. These are the cells that are used in biological research on adipose tissue. The biochemical test showed that RK increased both the presence and the secretion of adiponectin (protein hormone produced and secreted exclusively by fat cells). In addition, treatment with 10 µM of RK increased the fatty acid oxidation and suppressed lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes meaning it prevents the storage of fat cells.
These Raspberry Ketone Clinical Studies suggest that this supplement can become a powerful and natural herbal treatment for weight loss since its biological activities alter the lipid metabolism in 3T3-L1 adipocytes thus reducing fat cells.
Raspberry Ketone Clinical Study on Animals
At first clinical studies were conducted on pungent compounds with similar chemical structures as the RK, such as capsaicin and synephrine. These had lipolytic activity meaning they were causing fat cell breakdown when administered to rats. These rats were fed a high-fat diet and the fat cells found in the belly area were monitored.
This experiment was to test the effect on obesity. These rats were fed a high-fat diet that included raspberry ketone for 10 weeks total.
It became clear that, compared to lab controls, raspberry ketones reduced the amount of fat in the liver and visceral adipose (abdominal fat) tissues of these rats. In addition it significantly increased norepinephrine-induced lipolysis (the decomposition of fat cells) in some rat fat cells. this means it destroys the bodies current fat cells.
Other experiments that were conducted on fat cells in lab controlled in test tubes and petri dishes (vitro) showed even greater evidence of breakdown when compared to controls.
Higher levels of Adiponectin (protein used by the body to regulate metabolism) are associated with the use of raspberry ketones. In vitro studies fat cells were observed to have a higher secretion of adiponectin when compared to lab controls. This why taking a pure raspberry ketone supplements makes you feel like you have more energy and your more alert.
